This inviting new holiday album features eight traditional Christmas songs,all interpreted in Spencer's lilting style, along with four new songs composed especially for the season.Calling in the Winter is a collection of traditional Christmas tunes, with a handful of lovely Lewis originals intermingled. All are instrumental and played handily by Lewis on guitar, violins, horns, bells and shakers. Though the melodies are familiar - and the jingly bells say Christmas as surely as ho-ho-ho - Lewis has arranged the tunes so uniquely that only a few of them make you think it's actually time to start wrapping presents. Though the holidays are past, Calling in the Winter is worth a listen all year long.
